Students who live in Florida and want to earn a degree without taking time off from work have many options, in part because Florida is home to so many organizations that support distance learning. Here are three of them:
1. The Florida Distance Learning Association (FDLA) is one of the leading distance learning groups and has shaped Florida distance learning dramatically. It is affiliated with numerous key organizations to promote distance learning advancement, including the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA), the North American Council for Online Learning (NACOL), the Florida Distance Learning Consortium (FLDLC), the Florida Association for Computers in Education (FACE), the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), and the International Education and Resource Network (iEARN). You can learn more about the Florida Distance Learning Association on its website: www.fdla.com.
2. The Florida Distance Learning Consortium (FDLC) holds quarterly meetings about distance learning in Florida. Members of the FLDC are split into task groups that examine different aspects of Florida distance learning and regularly look for areas that need improvement. The FDLC website is a good resource for students who want to search all of the distance learning programs in Florida. Its website is located at www.distancelearn.org.
3. Florida Academic Counseling and Tracking (FACTs) is sponsored by the Department of Education and the Florida Center for Advising and Academic Support. It hosts a free website with distance learning advice for students of all levels, from high school through college. Its website is located at www.FACTS.org.
